We Got There

As of this morning, Driftmetal is sitting at #1 in Steampunk. Thanks to at least two well-timed promotions, neither of which I had anything to do with, the first book in the series cracked the Top 500 overall in the Kindle Free Store and finally snagged the top spot in its category. It’s also on the first page in Science Fiction, which is pretty cool. However fleeting the book’s time at these heights may be, I’m pleased to be in such great company, surrounded by authors like Joseph Lallo and Lindsay Buroker. Coincidentally, I’ve been following both of these fine author-entrepreneurs for some time now and have taken a lot of solid advice from their YouTube podcasts lately.

Driftmetal - #1 in Steampunk

From what I’ve been able to dig up, this sudden rise in downloads has been thanks to ireaderreview.com, who picked up the book in one of its promotions on Tuesday, March 10. Then yesterday, a service called BookBarbarian posted on my Facebook page saying they’d picked up the book as well. It looks like neither of these sites takes submissions, which makes me feel honored despite my book being just one of the hundreds they’ve promoted this week. I’m still in the early stages of building a readership, but this little jump-start certainly helps.
