I’ve self-published three books. I have a novel (The Infernal Lands) and its prequel (The Shepherd), both enrolled in KDP Select. I have Part One of a shorter serialized novel (Driftmetal) on Smashwords, Amazon, and Google Play.
I didn’t realize until after I’d published Driftmetal that Google Play’s stat tracking system only accounts for sales, so I have no idea how many people have downloaded it (it’s free). It’s doing well on Smashwords, though. Ever since its release, I’ve had consistent downloads averaging 13 copies a day. Sales on Amazon are slower. It has sold 4 paid copies in 20 days. It isn’t on KDP Select, so it isn’t eligible for the KU/KOLL lending program. I submitted the book’s Barnes & Noble page a couple of weeks ago in hopes of having it price-matched, but as of right now it’s still $0.99 in the Kindle Store.
I’m actively seeking reviews for all three books, as that’s a critical step in gaining momentum. Once I’ve had a few reviews and released a few more books, I’m hoping things will start to pick up.
